Assignment 3

Well during the last lecture I have to say that I realised my mass customisation tool lacked some - finess. Specifically the example of Cate Reas's dresses, caused me to realise that I was providing the user with to many options for cutomisation; and while thats one way of working it's not a good method for; repeat business, image, style, recognisability, creating a brand. Her dresses simply use the individual and unique designs of Casey Reas on simple dresses but they are imediately recognisabl… Continue

Refinement - & thoughts from feedback

Ok in my presentation I talked about using slide rules so that the consumers could change and alter the dimensions of the predefined options. Think of it similar to the second life technology, we were using to customise our avatars in 1st semester. I thought of this idea while I was on the train into uni on monday, which is why it isn't written in my presentation 2 report. I have been struggling with the idea of "how to make your wedding dress truly unique" I felt that by providing stock images… Continue

The Coco Myles website provides an excellent basis for the develop… Continue

Assignment One Report

The application of mass customisation, which I have investigated, is within the area of fashion design, in particular wedding dress customisation. At present there are no wedding dress customisation online tools, which allow the user to design their desired dress, and subsequently have the design produced. A mass customisation application such as this should be used to minimise the time that brides have to spend trying on multitudes of dresses, it should allow the user to construct their desired… Continue

This is a fairly average example, provides basic options such as the choice in colour, addition of bars and gems etc, you can also change the shape size and thickness. The layout is fairly average, you can only view the 3D object from the 2D perspective given to you, the graphics are f… Continue
